Opportunities for Coaches

May 18th 2008. -
With thanks to Brian Trotter the results for the winter county postal leagues are now available via the 'winter leagues' menu. You will notice that the longbow league was smaller this year yet there is evidence that more archers in the county are shooting longbow. I'm sure Brian would have no objection if two smaller clubs banded together to make one team for next seasons league? Why not try it out?

All county coaches have my apologies as I have retained the 'old' coaching badge on the web site. I have found that the new logo, modern though it is, does not fit snugly into the format of the site without looking a little washed out! I am reluctant to change the new logo so until I have a 'good' idea will retain the coaching pages as they are.

The county A.G.M. was held on Monday at Backworth's 'Miners Welfare Hall'. The basis of the county AGM is to review the previous year, elect the officers for the coming year, agree the annual subscription and accept motions of change for the constitution. The 'Honorary Records Officer' for 2007-8, and for some years previous, Abby Cooper had given notice of intent not to stand for the position for this coming year. As the county have a forthcoming 'inter-county shoot' an offer from Abby to collate scores was accepted and Andrea Wilson will maintain the county records until the shoot is over where the position of 'Records Officer' will be completed.

No change to the county subscriptions was proposed and no motions to change the constitution were received in time.

Once the agenda was completed the meeting turned to elect the sub-committee positions. No-one had been put forward as 'PRO' and so this position is idle. The 'Selection' sub-committee, Judges Registrar, NCAS representatives, Junior Organiser and Auditors are now as posted on the 'committee' page.

Tony George of Killingworth suggested that for the benefit and well-being of the county organisation and Killingworth Archers both, it may be worthwhile to encourage volunteers from a wider range of other clubs in the county to offer their services as committee officers after 2009.
