Continuous Professional Development Notes

The following notes are to be used when referring to the matrix overleaf.

Note 1 Where reference is made to "per year" this should be taken as each year starting on the anniversary of your renewal.

Note 2 Informal Mentoring by its nature is not part of a formal training programme but is correctly used where a coach is learning by receiving advice or help from a more senior or experienced coach. To qualify as CPD informal mentoring must:

    1. Be a relationship where there is real professional development taking place
    2. Where the mentor is a coach of a more senior grade or of the same grade but with much more experience.
    3. Involve a commitment by both parties to work together over a period of time. To qualify in each year there shall be evidence of a relationship extending over at least 4 months.
    4. Significant communication between the parties in person, by phone or email.
    5. The mentor must be one of the nominated referees and can expect to be contacted by the renewal panel, particularly if it is a coach of the same grade.

Note 3 To qualify the period of working with sports specialists shall cover a number of substantial events such as a years squad programme or a similar event. As an alternative a longer standing working relationship can qualify if it meets the criteria detailed in note 2.

Note 4 To qualify the work with a more senior coach shall comprise working at a "structured" event such as a performance workshop or squad.

Note 5 Some limited CPD may be claimed that has not been undertaken specifically for Archery Coaching. For example items 021 & 022 could have been obtained at work. In these cases the applicant should explain their relevance as Archery Coaching CPD.
